This performance inspired us to create
‘Nuria - Paso de cebra’

In "Nuria - El paso de cebra", we use the 'crossroad' as stage for a contemporay dance performance in combinatiob with Fado music, sung live.

A crossroad is a universal environment with his own habitudes and rules. The changing of the lights, the passing cars and the crossing pedestrians become part of the performance.

The contemporary dancers Luis Marrafa & Petra Van Gompel and Fado singer Maria Odilia Henriques make use of the changing of the green and red lights, the safe crossing as a connections between two street sides, the waiting, the going, the running. They are confronted with the distances between two parrallel crosswalks.

In short: the crossroad as a metaphor. The path that people have to travel, the decisions they have to make, the obstacles they have encounter.

AVAILABILITY & FEE

'Nuria - Paso de cebra' is available for international performances. For the Paso de cebra format it is necessary to find a good location. The duration is about 15 - 20 minutes. This project is perfect for Dance-, Music- and Street Festivals. The total fee: the fee for artists & creation / the number of performances / the number of days to prepare & perform / travel & hosting cost.

Saudade is the Portuguese word that indicates the melancholy caused by the memory: the pain that one feels due to the absence or disappearance of persons, things, situations or actions. It inextricably linked to the Fado.

The Portuguese Fado has a special place in the lives of the Portuguese. She gives voice to the emotions of life, sadness, melancholy, happiness, sadness, saudade.

Therefore Fado is the perfect soundtrack for "Nuria - Paso de cebra"
